1/4 of an hour, 15 minutes, 900 seconds….

To the right....

Now that my fitness life has come down to incremental minutes of energy. It’s easiest to forget the simplest of things and that fitness is FUN!

Tonight I was stumped and somewhat bored with my last 15 minutes of cardio that needed to get done!  It took me another 2 hours to decide that I was not going to hoof it thru the neighborhood, the gym was out of the question and failure was not an option.

So I danced!

Maybe lame but maybe not.

I admit that at first it felt a little awkward but then gradually it just wasn’t.  I even ended up dancing longer than the 15 minutes required.

What have you done to squeeze in that last few minutes of cardio?  If anyone replies with sex….you’re my hero!

G’night.

Who’s Responsible for this?

Mom and me in Hawaii 1991

I have to thank my Mom for my love of fitness. She dragged me to Jazzercise in the early eighties when I was just 15.

Like most of my friends I took dance classes, participated in sports and was a cheerleader. However, I really credit my Mom with making the healthy and fit connection for me.

My Mom’s influence was so ever present that my sister went on to become a succesful Jazzercise owner/operator too.

If it wasn’t for her I don’t think I’d eat as healthy as I do or take as good of care of my body. Thanks Mom!

Who do you have to thank for your love of fitness?

Bag O’ Tricks

Everyone seems curious as to what I’m taking in the way of supplements.

Ta Da…Here they are!

Calcium with Vitamin D is a no brainer and I’ve been taking that for the last 10 years.  New research is advocating Magnesium with Calcium and Vitamin D but I need to do a little more reading on that.

Whey protein is something I’ve been taking on and off for the last few years.  If I knew then what I know now.  As hard as it is for women to keep and retain muscle, I should have never gotten off protein powder. I’m not a vegetarian but I really do prefer plant based foods. That does seem to stall the muscle building and repair processes mostly found in eating or consuming protein. While there are many different types of protein powder with varying levels of sugar and additives I really have grown accustomed to Optimum Whey. You can find it at  www.bodybuilders.com

I just picked up the first multivitamin I saw at Rite Aid. If there is a real difference please let me know your thoughts and findings.

Digest All comes in handy now that I’m eating protein with every meal.  It keeps me regular. Nuff said! Also can be found at www.bodybuilders.com

Maxi-Hair was another great find by my nutrition counselor. It’s a lot cheaper than Biotin which has skyrocketed recently.  Bonus is that it’s supposed to help your skin and nails too.   It seems to be working! You can find it at www.amazon.com

EFA’s (essential fatty acids or fish oil) are really new to me.  I’m taking them three times a day to prevent inflammation. With my rigorous workouts I need it. Is it working? All I know is that I feel good.

What are you taking in the way of supplements? How do you know if it’s working?

Time for a protein shake!

Hello world!

The humor is not lost on me that I’m holding a giant cookie.

What presentational pose I thought this would achieve beats me. It does seem a bit better than the cookie!

Of course, no children’s dance recital would be complete without a rousing rendition of the CanCan. If I’m not mistaken the CanCan was a dance performed in Parisian Whore Houses. Lovely! Oh and when I was growing up people thought it was perfectly normal to smoke while you were pregnant.
